FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• Why should I go to the Dominican Republic? The DR is the fastest growing Caribbean island. It is also one of the safest Caribbeans islands to visit. They love Americans!

• Do you own the villa’s or this a membership or timeshare property? YES my husband and I own the villa and it is deeded to us just like any property in the USA that you own.

• Is everything really included? YES, when you travel with Harmony Travel you get the highest band/amenities the resort has to offer. All your food, non alcoholic beverages and top shelf alcohol are included. You will never be charged for second helpings so feel free to order as many entrees, desserts, drinks as you wish!

• Can I buy my own airfare and fly out of another airport other than JFK? YES, the flight will be longer and the cost is usually higher. Harmony Travel may add an additional $200 fee to the cost of your room if you are purchasing your own flights.

•  Does Harmony Travel mark up the flight price? NO, we never add any fees when you buy airfare through Harmony Travel

• Can Harmony Travel arrange bus transportation to the airport for my group? YES

•  Do I have to travel with the group on the bus? NO, you may find your own way to the airport

• What is the best flight option? JetBlue from JFK to POP- 3.5 Hour Direct Flight-This is the only direct flight

• Can I fly from a different airport other than JFK? YES, the flights from other airports to Puerto Plata are usually longer and more expensive and have at least one layover-BWI, MDT, DCA, IAD, EWR, PIT etc.  

• Do I have to fly with JetBlue? NO, American & United also offer flights to POP but they are usually longer and have one or more layovers  and more expensive

• How long does it take to get from POP to the resort? Approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic 

• Do I have to fly into POP? NO, you can fly into STI but it is a 1 hour & 45 minute drive to the resort.

• How do I get from POP or STI airport to the resort and back to airport to go home? Harmony Travel will arrange FREE transfers for you.

• Is this an Adults Only resort? NO, this is a family friendly resort with Adults Only areas.

• Can I be nude or topless on the beach? NO, nudity is not permitted on the resort

• How is the food at the resort? EXCELLENT, the restaurants and cafes are the best we have ever experienced at any resort

• How much money should I bring? VARIES-we usually bring $500 per person spending money for souvenirs and excursions

•  Are tips included? NO tips are not included and are NOT mandatory but will be greatly appreciated by the staff. Bring 1’s if you would like to show your appreciation for the exceptional service you will receive

• Are there excursions available? YES, there are a LOT of excursions available. Included in your price is a FREE excursion to Ocean World which is like a small Sea World

• Can I explore the area by myself? YES- we have several private taxi operators that will be glad to escort you around town. These private taxi drivers also offer excursions and can be a tad cheaper than going through the resort

• How safe is the resort? VERY, the resort is gated and is very safe. Like any place you should always be aware of your surroundings. We feel very safe at this resort and I personally never felt uncomfortable being by myself

• Is there nightly entertainment at the resort? YES, the resort has several locations that offer nightly entertainment

• How do I get around the resort? Villa guests will share 1-2 golf carts per villa. Studio Room guests will need to use the resort shuttle that runs 24/7 every 15 minutes or so

• Can I use US currency? Yes, you do not need to your convert your US dollars into DR peso’s

• Is the DR 420 friendly? NO, the laws are very strict in the DR

• What happens if I get hurt at the resort? There is a medical center and pharmacy located at the center of the resort. We highly recommend trip health & cancellation insurance

•  Do you recommend a Travel Insurance Company? Allianz, IMG Patriot International, Geoblue Worldwide Insurance are just a few, do your research to select a company that fits your needs and budget.

• Is there a charge for WIFI? NO, when you travel with Harmony Travel you get free WIFI for 1 device per person.

• Are there any additional resort chargesI should be aware of?  NO, when you travel with Harmony Travel all extra resort fees are waived! 

• Can I get an early check in? NO, Check in is at 3pm, you will be given a band that will allow you access to all resort amenities upon arrival. The resort will do their best to get  you into your room earlier when possible.

• Do you offer evet planning/wedding planning services?  YES, we will gladly customize an planning package based on your needs and budget.

• Does that resort offer all the items I may need for my destination wedding or event?  I would say YES, the resort has a full service planning and event department that can accommodate most event needs.

• Is the resort handicap accessible? YES and NO. Most areas are handicap accessible. Please remember there is no ADA rules in the DR so the ramps may be steeper than in the USA. Many of the side walks are brick or stone and a little uneven.
